Democrats looking for the best candidate willing to serve...
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
With the recent resignation of Council Member Howell from the town council, I am looking for a strong 2nd candidate to round out the Democratic ticket in November. Anyone interested in running should send me a resume by July 15th. We need to make some very necessary changes in the direction Howell is being taken lately. One party (Independents) control is not working. We need to balance out the field. We are seeing the worst managment in Howell in the last 25 years. The I's are a disaster.
E-mail or phone me if you are interested.
Steve

For the record their are currently 2 democrats on the Howell Township Council. Councilman Memmola has been a registered democrat for over 30 years and councilwoman Clark has been in excess of 15. They have their own thoughts and vote thier views of what they think is the best solutions for all who live in our town.
It is ridiculous that Steve Morlino would insinuate that they are not democrats in any way, shape ,or form unless he means democrats who do not do his bidding or people above him. They serve only the people of Howell and are doing anoutstanding job under very trying circumstances. After all it is only 8 months ago Steve endorsed both Suzanne and I and asked all other democrats to vote for us also.
Though I like Steve personally and also think very highly of his wife Karen we all know that the only thing that changed in the past six months was Steve not being appointed to my vacant council seat. Though I believe Steve is both highly qualified and a man of integrity who would of served Howell well my vote at that time was for Lou Memmola who also had a terrific resume as well as having been a servant for Howell in many capacities for many years.
May God be with Steve and his family always and I would be glad to resume our friendship at any time.
P.S. If Steve or anyone else has solutions to the many problems Howell is facing please feel free to contact me or any member of the governing body. Input is welcome as the problems are all of ours.Criticisism without solutions are pretty empty and usually politically motivated in my humble opinion.

My response to Mayor Walsh...
Mayor Robert Walsh,
With all due respect, let me clarify your comments:
Of the 2 council members you mention, one ran as an Independent and the other was appointed as an Independent. I have never seen either one of them at a Democratic function in the last 25 years. And Mayor, you know very well no one does my bidding, including you.
In the last 6 months a lot has changed. When I endorsed you, you were not the Mayor, now that you are, I respectfully rescind my endorsement. We have seen a tremendous change in Howell and not for the better. You are in charge and have shown you don’t possess the leadership to improve Howell, nor have you assembled the team necessary to do so, no disrespect meant.
And in-case you have forgotten, I removed my name from consideration to be appointed by you. And if I wanted to run, as Municipal Chairmen, I can simply place my name on the ballot, not in the cards at this time. I will not debate the issues here or now, save it for November. Best wishes to you and the family.
PS. Anyone interested in running, please give me a call or e-mail.

Sorry Steve, but your argument doen't hold water. You started Badmouthing Mayor Walsh prior to him being sworn in as Mayor.
It was around the time they were considering a replacement for his vacant seat.
Could it be you removed your name because you knew you weren't going to get the appointment?
Just curious, have you ever won an election, i know you have run for may positions.
Regardless who gets elected if they don'f grant spaecial favors to certain people they will be torn apart.
Some people in Howell just hate everyone. its really a shame

This exchange is symbolic of things as they are in Howell. I know both of you fellows and you're both good guys. You both have immense talent, a strong sense of community and the smarts to get things done.
As I understand it, one of you is a R turned I. The other is a D, turned I supporter, returned to a D.
Labels. This town is defined by them. I don't know what happened in this case but I do know that this council has been under siege since 30 days
before
they were sworn in. A complete and total distraction in the midst of a fiscal crisis so severe that none of us has experienced such in our lifetimes. It paralyzes action, clouds thought, creates foes out of friends and turns neighbor against neighbor. We have achieved the exact opposite of concensus, of direction. Much of it has been fueled by endless BB chatter and it has been enabled by a citizenry that is in many cases simply turned off by these theatrics.
You are both public figures in Howell by your own choice. Leadership is a slippery slope but neither of you is a stranger to it. At this point no one really cares who did or said what to whom or when these things allegedly happened. People will remember who did their best to lead and who sat in the shadows lobbing criticisms.
And a Happy 4th to both my friends and everyone else! _________________ The difference between fiction and reality? Fiction has to make sense.

I think Bob Walsh and the council are doing the best they can under very difficult conditions. The economy is in the toilet and The Howell Council is doing an admirable job in my humble opinion; they have had to make some very difficult decisions.
My only questions to Steve is, what would you specifically do differently that would help Howell? Or what specifically are your complaints with what the Council is doing and how would you do it differently? _________________ walk on the bright side of the road!

As I said during the 2000 election, Politics in Howell is a Bloodsport.
I know, I was there once upon a time. Boy was I naive, I actually thought I could have done some good. Based on what the governing bodies have had to put up with for the last 8 years I wonder how anyone of them stayed on the Dias.

I have been around howell politics for awhile and from my observations There is a small but very vocal minority who yell the loudest. If the elected officials don't do thier bidding then they start attacking the elected official. It happened to Mayor DiBella and now it is happeing to Mayor Walsh. I hope at some point Howell will be able to grow out of this situation and the council has the ability to make the right decisions. _________________ walk on the bright side of the road!
